Regardless of your experience in sport or exercise or whether you exercise socially or perform at an international level – sports therapy may have something to offer you. Sports therapy techniques can help relieve many day-to-day problems that everyone experiences.
Sports therapy is not solely for athletes and sports injuries. Sports Massage includes treatment of the muscles and soft tissues of the body, and is suitable for anybody and a wide variety of conditions.
You will be expected to communicate with me throughout the process so, feedback is given when problems are investigated and respond when these problems are found. Although as a therapist I can identify problem areas, some are silent until I get hands on and due to the nature of the Myofascial Meridians, pain in one area is usually connected to other areas and a lot of bodily compensation occurs. Client feedback is essential to accurately pinpoint this. Due to the nature of this type of therapy, some discomfort will initially be apparent and feedback on pain and pain scores will be needed as we work through the process.

Sports Therapy Techniques
Sports Therapy Techniques aid in soft tissue release which involves locking and stretching the tissues and muscles. It includes neuromuscular techniques, by targeting trigger points in the nervous system to release pain and tension. Positional release which is used to release hyperactive muscle compartments and fibres. Myofascial meridian release which involves deep slow targeted kneading to release connective fascia and tissue around the body's musculoskeletal system.
Deep Tissue Therapy
Deep tissue massage breaks down scar tissue, adhesions, trigger points and reflex points; it can also help to loosen muscles, release toxins and allow blood and oxygen to circulate effectively.

“I have now opened a sports therapy clinic in North Goa to treat clients suffering from musculoskeletal problems, both acute and chronic long-term issues that need resolution. Pain management is essential to ensure a positive lifestyle experience especially as our bodies age. I only practice deep tissue manipulation and offer a holistic whole-body approach which encompasses various proven techniques to reduce pain and enhance the body’s ability to heal. If some conditions are beyond my remit, I will refer you to the relevant specialist for further treatment. I have worked right across the spectrum of conditions from professional sports people, gym users and people suffering from work related stresses and strains on their bodies especially as we age. The experience of deep tissue manipulation is not only therapeutic but generally finds any deficiencies within the musculoskeletal apparatus as a whole. Most of my working life has been devoted to studying anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. I understand the mechanics of kinesiology and myofascial meridians and how the human body works hard to achieve homeostasis and balance. This is what I hope to achieve with my clients is to diagnose the pain factors, work to relieve affected areas and provide advice to maintain it.
We only have one body and one life and it’s vitally important that our body is kept in good condition to ensure some form of longevity. I have been training for 40 years and have incurred many injuries and working 60-80 hours a week brings its own perspective of wear and tear on the body. I am qualified to give advice on exercise, nutrition and lifestyle factors, all of which play a huge part in our bodies’ ability to heal. I do not offer aromatherapy or “swedish” skin ticking massages, this is a purely professional service to help with pain management and the healing process.”
Testimonial from a Happy Client
Receiving valuable feedback and positive reviews from our clients makes our work worthwhile. We thank Rebekah Taylor, United Kingdom, for her kind review.
Having suffered with, at debilitating lower back pain for years, I was taking a range of medication, physio therapy and had received courses of cortisone injections with offered little relief. A second MRI delivered a diagnosis of Bertolotti Syndrome, where extra growth is causing fusion at the base of my spine. Options for treatment at this stage were continual cocktails of painkillers which in themselves had a huge impact on my quality of life or surgery. An option I was not ready to explore so I sought out help from Mark after he was recommended by my personal trainer.
I was delighted to hear that he even knew what the condition was, it’s not particularly common and was able to explain why it was impacting other areas of my body as well. He explained what treatment would look like and what I could expect from it.
He began straight away with a very hands on approach to help release muscle and tissue around my lower back and surrounding area. It was painful to begin with but I was absolutely astounded with the difference after 3 sessions! Mark explained everything he was doing and why, he helped me with assisted stretching and he showed me how to help myself at home!
My range of movement is completely different and I very rarely take even mild pain relief! After 5 sessions quite close together I dropped down to seeing him once a month and now just when I feel I need to.
I can’t explain the difference in my quality of life, it’s been such a dramatic change! What I can say is I feel my age again and am quietly confident that the surgery required to ‘remove’ the problem is something I can but to the back of my mind for many years yet.
Thank you Mark. “
